News from Terri:
Greetings to all from Uganda in the in the Matchless Name of Jesus!
Praise the Lord! We are here in Uganda and have just finished the second day of our Women’s Leadership Conference. I apologize for the lapse in communication, but this is our first access to the internet since arriving in Uganda.
Though we have not had internet, your prayers have been directly communicated to the throne room of grace and released with power here at the conference. Before I describe the move of God in these women, let me first give you some of the demographics of the attendees. The attendees consist of 259 women representing every district in the nation of Uganda. This Uganda Leadership Conference is truly touching the entire nation of Uganda.
Six women actually came from a remote island village. They had to take a six hour ride on a small boat across Lake Victoria to get here. Two women had never been outside their bush village and were too afraid to travel into Kampala. For many, we are the first “Muzungoo” or “white” they have never seen. The women are staying in a house we rented just a short walk from the church. The women of Christ Centered Church, (John and Monique Mubiru’s church), have worked tirelessly to prepare meals and serve them.
The conference began Tuesday, April 14th while we were enroute from London. Day two began with a flavorful mingling of African song and dance, preparing the way for the Word of God. Our messages covered our worth as women (Nancy), refuge and healing in the wings of God (Terri), God wants to heal more than just the symptoms; loosening and pulling out the entire root (Jocey), Spiritual warfare—the snakes in our house (Terri). All the messages flowed one into another, breaking up the soil in these precious women’s hearts.
With the ground prepared, the Holy Spirit took over on day three. The schedule was set and the messages prepared, but God had something else in mind. Jocey started the morning with a powerful testimony on betrayal and God’s faithfulness in our darkest hour, followed by a message of trust. The precious Ugandan women received what was sown and after lunch, the rain came down.
The Ugandan speaker who was to follow Jocey had not arrived and Monique’s attempts to contact her by phone failed. Because she was interpreting and coordinating the entire event, Monique had not planned to speak, but what else could she do? Ever ready, in season and out, Monique stepped up to the plate. She brought forth a profoundly anointed message relating the twelve sons of Jacob and how the sins in their lives set the course for their children’s blessings or curses. By the time my twin finished, we knew God had broken through. Nancy and I knew we needed to change the direction of our afternoon messages.
When we returned to the church, Monique told me the schedule was thrown off completely for various reasons, so I told her Nancy and I would give up our time to allow her to do what was needed. Actually, it was all in the plan of God. Through the testimony of a Ugandan woman named Joy, the Holy Spirit fell. Though standing over six feet tall, this woman delivered a message of hope from Psalm 27 in the most gentle and softest voice I’ve ever heard. By the time she finished, the entire church was saturated by the Holy Spirit. Nearly every woman came forward for prayer. There are no words to adequately describe what took place. After such a holy and powerful time of ministry, the final speaker graciously gave up her time to speak, leaving the entire body of women to leave, savoring what God had done in each of their lives.
Tomorrow, Friday, is our final day, and I can’t wait to see what God will do! Please keep us in your prayers.
In and For His Glory,
Terri
